Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui)
Some years ago my best friend and I realized there was a guy who lived in a nearby town that sells butterfly caterpillars you can grow into butterflies in your own home. This was entirely too cool to pass up so we bought a batch to split between us and observed them eating, getting fat, pupating, and finally emerging to fly off our balconies. The gentleman told us he works with painted ladies specifically because they are sturdy and tend to not disappoint even if your butterfly husbandry is not ten out of ten.
I made the drawing as a birthday gift for my friend, to commemorate the experience.
The piece is drawn with mechanical pencils on smooth Bristol paper.
Printed on Breathing Color Optica One paper
Matte finish, 300 gsm, bright white
Size - paper size 8x8, picture size 5x5 inches
Hand cut edges
1.5 inch border
Fits standard frames
Ships within 7 days
